John 13.34 ‘And now I give you a new commandment: love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. If you have love for one another then everyone will know that you are my disciples’.
Father, teach me how to love;
Where must my love begin;
Where should it end,
Whom should I love?
Jesus says, love one another as I have loved you. The love of Jesus was limitless and He lay down His life for us. The love of Jesus was open to all – Jew and Gentiles. You and I, unworthy as we are bask in the magnitude of His love. Jesus calls to love as He loved us, instructs us to live beyond the boundaries of our family and friends; to our neighbors and even unto our enemies. Easier said than done, loving and being loved is rather scarce in today’s world. The love we extent isn’t it bounded and measured. Don’t we have criteria and hierarchies to our love? Turn around; remove the blindfold from our eyes and we would see a whole lot of people in need of nothing but love and love in itself encompasses everything.
When we are able to place the need of another, above ours, we love!
When we selflessly give of what we have; we love!
When our eyes reflect the smile of an unknown heart; we love!
When the cry of an orphan, a widow, or a needy fills our heart, then we love!
Love as our Jesus did!!
Then and only then can we spread the love of our Savior born 2000 years ago in a manger. May these moments fill your hearts with love and spread the love to each one you come across!
