Child Development Center

Our project in Thottamoola, a forest village bordering tribal hamlets in Wayanad, Kerala, transforms young lives. We support children aged 5-8, nurturing them up to 22 years old.

Children from nearby villages (within a 3 km radius) attend their regular schools and come to our project in the evenings. Here, they receive a nutritious meal and participate in engaging classes focusing on character development and building valuable skills (competence development).

Child & Purpose

We believe that every child is a unique creation with a divine purpose. In rural areas, where poverty often overshadows potential, children are deprived of essential opportunities for growth and development. Our Child Development Centers aim to bridge this gap by providing a nurturing environment where children can flourish.

Meals...

Our project is based in Thottamoola village, a rural area with several tribal communities. Many of the children we serve come from these communities and face severe nutritional deficiencies due to poverty, ignorance, traditional lifestyle, and challenging living conditions like the alcoholism of parents. To address this, we provide daily nutritious meals and educate children about healthy eating habits. Since 2011, we’ve witnessed remarkable improvements in their health and overall well-being. Our meals feature a variety of tasty dishes made with locally sourced ingredients. To broaden their culinary horizons, we also organize "Food Fests" introducing them to diverse cuisines from around the world.

English Medium

Breaking the Cycle: Empowering the Paniyar Tribe: For generations, the Paniyar tribe has faced a relentless cycle of poverty and limited opportunities. Despite government initiatives, the challenges persist. Children are forced into child labor, and those who do attend school often face discrimination and inadequate resources. This has led to a high dropout rate and a pervasive sense of inferiority. Our organization is committed to breaking this cycle. We believe that education is the key to unlocking the potential of these young minds. We currently support children attending Malayalam medium government schools, providing them with the necessary resources and encouragement.However, we have witnessed the transformative power of English medium education. Our pilot program, enrolling children in English medium schools, has yielded extraordinary results. Students like Adhish have excelled academically and developed a newfound confidence. This success story has inspired us to expand our efforts and provide more children with this life-changing opportunity.We are seeking your support to send more Paniyar children to English medium schools and enhance the support for those already in our program. Higher Studies

For years, we’ve been committed to empowering young minds through education. Our project has been a constant companion to these children as they’ve grown and matured. Today, we celebrate the achievements of our senior batch who have successfully completed their Plus Two exams.

These dedicated students are now pursuing their higher education dreams in diverse fields such as BSc Nursing, BBA, BCom, and Bachelor of Anesthesia. We are immensely proud of their journey and are committed to supporting them until they reach their full potential.

Thanks to the generosity of our sponsors and donors, we are able to provide essential financial assistance to cover full or partial tuition fees. Our promise to these students is steadfast: we will be with them every step of the way.

While the core principles remain consistent, the teaching methods and pace vary to suit individual needs. Children actively participate in their learning journey through personalized workbooks, practical exercises, and regular assessments. Our holistic approach ensures not just academic growth but also the development of essential life skills, with a strong emphasis on physical and mental well-being. For instance, our Health Education program includes nutritional guidance, fitness activities, and regular health check-ups, while Personality Development focuses on character building, goal setting, and leadership skills.

Supplies

The lack of basic school supplies, such as bags, uniforms, and notebooks, can exacerbate feelings of inferiority and contribute to a higher dropout rate.

Since 2011, our organization has been committed to breaking this cycle. We provide essential school supplies, annual clothing, and financial support for higher education to children from financially broken families. By addressing these practical barriers, we aim to create a more inclusive and equitable learning environment.

Our efforts have yielded positive results. By ensuring that children have the necessary tools to succeed, we have witnessed an increase in attendance and a decrease in dropout rates. These small but significant steps empower children to focus on their education and reach their full potential.

Skill Training

Beyond academics, our project emphasizes holistic development. We believe that fostering diverse skills empowers children and prepares them for a brighter future.

As part of our comprehensive program, we offer training in:

Music: Cultivating creativity and expression.
Tailoring: Developing practical skills and potential income-generating opportunities.
Sports and Games: Promoting physical health, teamwork, and discipline.
IGPs (Income Generation Program): For older children, we provide opportunities to earn a small income, enhancing their self-reliance and financial literacy.

By offering these skill-based programs, we aim to equip our children with the tools they need to succeed in life.

Camps and Training

Through leadership camps, we ignite the spark of leadership in our students, equipping them with the skills to inspire and influence. Our VBS programs instill strong moral and spiritual values, fostering a sense of purpose and compassion.

We prioritize the well-being of our students by conducting awareness programs on pressing issues like drug abuse. These initiatives aim to create a generation of young advocates who are knowledgeable and empowered to combat this menace.

Our comprehensive approach to development includes programs focused on self-awareness, discipline, and other essential life skills. By understanding their strengths, weaknesses, and values, our students are better equipped to navigate challenges and achieve their full potential.
